It's 2012 - no need to panic!
Well 2012 is here and we'd like to wish ...
Jobsons of AlnwickNestled next to the famous Bondgate Tower at the entrance to the market town of Alnwick, Jobson’s is a traditional saddlers and outdoor clothing store.
Having had an online presence for quite a while, they felt that they were missing out on something – and boy, were they right! Whilst the retail business was growing and expanding at a rapid rate, helped in no small part to the increase in awareness from fashion publications to traditional country brands and styles such as Barbour, Dubary, and the iconic Hunter wellies. The website was dead as a dodo. Stiff. Deceased. Truly, an ex-website.
So, we set about making a plan that would not only make a beautiful site – but make a profitable one too.
First stage was to look at the overall branding of the business with particular attention towards the online impact of it’s identity – The truth being that there was a successful bricks & mortar retail business here which simply was not translating to a successful online one.
What was apparent on a browse of the available online retailers of equivalent products was that these were purely lifestyle purchases. Far from their rural beginnings, these products were aspirational purchases which have as much chance to be worn in Primrose Hill than to the local Point to Point. Therefore, we injected an element of fresh, contemporary design into the identity from the start.
Next came images. To reflect the contemporary casual lifestyle portrayed by the brands, we took our time selecting a model with just the right mix of style & confidence. We also used our knowledge of the region to select a series of locations which would bring some unique, iconic backdrops to the shoots. Once all the planning was in place, we hit the road! James & Laura worked with model Pippa to do a lightening tour of Northumberland together with a range of clothing and accessories – and managed to secure over 100 great images that forms the start of the online and offline marketing campaign for the new website.
Truly a website which had a ready-made audience ready and willing to order – if the products were presented and marketed in the right way – www.jobsonsofalnwick.co.uk is one of the very few sites which took an order on it’s first day of launch! And continues to show great promise through the first few weeks of it’s online re-birth. We look forward to working with Chris, Ali and the team to make this website a truly great business in the months and years to come.
