The Challenge
Their existing Squarespace website had become a frustration. It was difficult to update, lacked the functionality they needed, and no longer reflected the business they'd become. As they put it in their initial contact with us: "Our current website is a bit tired and old, and really doesn't represent our company as it is now, or have the functionality that we need."
After spending a couple of frustrating years wrestling with an "out-of-the-box" solution, they were looking for a local company that could build them something better - and help them explore online sales for their expanding product range.

Our Approach
This project was us doing what we do best: helping a local business improve their web presence with a bespoke solution tailored to their specific needs. Being based just across the border in Northumberland, we understand Scottish Borders businesses and the mix of local and visitor trade that defines the region's economy.
Rather than forcing Eyemouth Marine into another generic template system, we took the time to understand how they actually work - what products they sell, how their services are structured, and what their small in-house team needed from a website management system.
The Solution
Bespoke Website and CMS
We built a completely custom website with a Content Management System written specifically around Eyemouth Marine's needs. The system is simple and intuitive, managed entirely by their small in-house team without any external input required. No more wrestling with templates or workarounds - everything works the way their business actually operates.
Flexible E-commerce Platform
The integrated e-commerce system gives them complete flexibility to sell anything from small items like lubricant sprays through to full outboard motors. Products can be added, updated, and managed easily, with secure payment processing and stock management built in.
Crucially, we built in the ability to switch the e-commerce functionality on and off as needed. During busy periods in the boatyard, they can simply turn off online purchasing, converting the store into a product catalogue. This removes the pressure on staff to package and ship purchases when they're needed on-site, whilst still allowing customers to browse products and get in touch. When things quieten down, the shop can be switched back on with a single click.
Ongoing Support
We're just at the end of the phone if they want to tweak how something works or if they want to introduce some new functionality. This ongoing partnership approach means they can focus on running their boatyard whilst we handle the technical side.

The Results
Eyemouth Marine now have a website that properly represents their business and the comprehensive range of services they offer. The bespoke CMS means updates can be done quickly and efficiently by their team, saving time and removing the frustration of their previous platform.
The e-commerce functionality has opened up new revenue streams, allowing them to sell products online to both their existing customer base and new visitors to their site. The ability to switch the shop on and off gives them complete control over their workload, ensuring online sales support rather than overwhelm their operations.
Most importantly, they have a platform that can grow with their business - adding new products, services, and functionality as needed without being constrained by template limitations.
